Pathways of Women’s Empowerment
BDI is a member of the international research and communication program Pathways of Women’s Empowerment, which seeks to understand what enables women to empower themselves and sustain changes in gendered power relations, and to make these pathways visible in order to bring about radical shifts in policy and practice.
“Social Accountability at the Local Level”
BRAC Development Institute is implementing a research project to understand how best to create and implement mechanisms that lead to effective citizen engagement in local government, increased accountability over its resources and improved performance of Union Parishads (UPs).
“Deepening Democracy, Building Citizenship and Promoting Participation: The Role of Civil Society Organizations”
Alongside the Development Research Centre on Citizenship, Participation and Accountability (at the Institute of Development Studies at Sussex University) and the Bangladesh Institute of Development Studies, BDI is undertaking the research project “Deepening Democracy, Building Citizenship and Promoting Participation: The Role of Civil Society Organizations”, which analyzes the role of non-governmental and civil society organizations in promoting changes in consciousness, state responsiveness and welfare outcomes in Bangladesh.
