BRAC’s “ Targeting the Ultra Poor “ programmes focuses on the poorest who fail to benefit from existing development programmes, including micro-credit programmes. The programme is modeled on a sequence of activities aimed at sustainable improvement of the conditions of the poorest. The interventions include grants for consumption support and small assets, skills training, and health and social development inputs. BRAC staff spend two years, closely monitoring and working with the programme participants. By the end of the programme period participants gain confidence, develop sustainable livelihoods and graduate out of the ranks of the ultra poor.
BDI has undertaken the following projects under the Social Protection programme:
