The Changing Narratives of Sexuality research theme of the Pathways of Women’s Empowerment Research Project takes the ‘body’ entry point the factors that influence women’s ability to exercise control over their own bodies. The research focuses on particular on religion, media and the intersection of global forces with the institutions that mediate women’s options and choices.
The research projects conducted under this theme seek to understand the influence of Religion, particularly Islam, and Media as two major forces shaping understandings of women’s bodies and sexualities. The outputs of this research include public lectures, research reports, research briefs, newspaper and magazine articles, video clips for the media research, journal articles, etc.
